Polaris
The first twenty years
Polaris has been producing technical cycle wear and accessories for over 20 years. What began as a part time one man operation is now a large employer on the edge of the Peak District. Starting off in the early days of MTB (when Girvin Flexstems were still popular), Polaris was keen to explore technical performance garments that were perfect for the Polaris Challenge - the first mountain bike orienteering event in the UK.

Over time the Polaris range diversified into all areas of cycling with its Road, Trail and Urban ranges. Polaris also specialises in cycle specific luggage - with the often copied, but never bettered EVA Bike Pod being a perennial favourite.

2010 and beyond
Polaris is pleased to announce that at the start of 2010 we moved into a purpose built office and warehouse in Dronfield, Derbyshire. This integrated facility houses our smoothly run operation under one roof (and we even have a bikerack now). The staff are also pleased to add that they now can have a shower after riding to work!

The brand is currently enjoying good growth within the UK and overseas markets and is please to add that 2011 will see the 20th anniversary of the Polaris Challenge.

OMM

Here at OMM we are committed to two things: running the first and most famous and largest mountain marathon in the world, the OMM and developing the very best Leanweight packs, sleeping systems and garments to help adventure racers and OMM entrants in their quest.

OMM - The Product
OMM's heritage was the Karrimor company which was responsible for creating some of the outdoor's great iconic products: the orange Whillans and purple Haston Alpiniste, the yellow Karrimat, the Jaguar SA pack, KSB's, the first and original lightweight boots, and not to forget the KIMM AR35 (now the OMM classic marathon 32). Most British expeditions of the 1970's and 80's, many led by Chris Bonington, were supplied by Karrimor.

Today OMM, together with a team of enthusiastic supporters and lead users, are re-inventing the meaning of “lightweight” with many innovations to create products with the perfect blend of performance and agility for outdoor athletes, of any age.

OMM - The Event
Since 1982 the event team is under the continued leadership of Jen Longbottom. The event has been held each year since 1968. It is the original mountain marathon and forerunner of all adventure racing. 2006 saw new sponsorship, new name and the same great organisational team. From 2006 the event was therefore changed from KIMM to OMM, the Original Mountain Marathon.
